The following are descriptions and photos of the equipment that is available in the Bioengineering Core Lab.
DoALL Vertical Band Saw
DoALL vertical contour saws can cut aluminum, brass, copper, mild steel, tough tool steel, stainless steel and sheet metal, as well as non-metals like plastics, wood, paper and fibrous materials. Saw features band speeds that permit contouring, cut-off and machining of almost any material. No customer use, expert users only (engineering, machinist). Blades need replacement about every eight months.

Bridgeport Manual Mill
This is a vertical milling machine, with a quill-equipped multiple-speed vertical milling head with a ram-on-turret mounting over a knee-and-column base. Requires appropriate training and supervision of use. Supplies: replacement drill bits, taps, about every three months.

Delta Drill Press
Precisely drilled holes are key to many projects. Whether it's a carpentry or metalworking job, this drill press can accurately bore holes in many materials. The ability to drill holes at angles allows you to take on complicated projects. Requires training, but can be operated by average user.
Hardinge Super-Precision Manual Lathe
Hardinge Super-Precision manual lathe. Clausing model also available. These lathes rotate the work piece on its axis to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, or deformation, facing, turning with tools that are applied to the work piece to create an object which has symmetry about an axis of rotation. No customer use, expert users only (engineer, machinist). Cut inserts need to be replaced periodically.

Jet Horizontal Cutting Band Saw
JET has both manual and semi-automatic horizontal band saws. Control blade speed and hydraulic downfeed rate for more precise cuts. Can be operated by outside users with minimal training. Supplies: blades, which need to be changed every three-four months.

Hermle 5-Axis CNC Mill
Hermle machining centers have a very large round component diameter thanks to their axis design and the way that the NC swiveling rotary table is integrated into the machine. They can process very large work pieces relative to the installation area. Our model can mill or turn in 5 axes simultaneously. No customer use, expert users only (engineer, machinist). Supplies: cutting tools need to be regularly replaced, about every three months.
