- The BSLMC Endocrine Program was again ranked among the top 50 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Faculty took on key leadership roles nationally, including Dr. Mark Herman鈥檚 testimony before Congress and Dr. Ruchi Gaba鈥檚 election to the Texas Endocrine Association Board.
- Dr. Mandeep Bajaj was named President of Medicine and Science for the American Diabetes Association in 2024, co-chaired the ADA Science and Health Care Executive Council, and received the Banting Medal for Leadership and Service.
- Section researchers secured major grant funding and recognition: Dr. Sean Hartig received a $2.5M NIDDK R01, Dr. Dongyin Guan earned competitive pilot awards and top NIH scores, and Dr. Qiancheng Zhao was named a McNair Scholar for his work in neuroendocrine obesity research.
- The Baylor Medicine Endocrinology Clinic earned 鈥淪ilver and Gold Achievement Awards鈥 for excellence in blood pressure, cholesterol, and Type 2 diabetes care. Two new faculty, Drs. Maleeha Zahid and Jordana Faruqi, expanded the clinic鈥檚 clinical capacity and expertise.
- Faculty members received prestigious honors for clinical excellence, including Drs. Nalini Ram, Ruchi Gaba, and Mandeep Bajaj being named among Houstonia鈥檚 Top Doctors, and Dr. Ram among America鈥檚 Best Physicians.
- The section continued its strong commitment to education and public outreach. Highlights included the 17th Annual Diabetes Symposium, multiple media appearances by faculty, and national recognition for teaching, including Dr. Bryan Jiang鈥檚 Norton Rose Fulbright Award and new role in BCM curriculum leadership.
