The Huffington Department of Education, Innovation, and Technology is excited to host the annual BCM Education Hackathon.

What is an Educational Hackathon?
The concept of a 鈥渉ackathon鈥 originates from the technology and software industry where teams compete in short bursts of time to create innovative products. The Education Hackathon is a creative 鈥渟pin鈥 on this format and an opportunity to bring together members of the BCM community who compete in teams to develop innovative ideas that address real challenges in medical education and advance health professions training.

How does it work? / What is the process?
- March: Hackathon Kickoff event. During this event, the theme for the year鈥檚 hackathon will be announced
- March 鈥 April: Teams will form, establish a topic, and register their idea through the team lead
- April 鈥 Early May: Teams will work independently on their pitches with the help of their Hackathon liaison; liaisons will be matched according to your topic
- May 7: Deadline to register
- May: Teams will rehearse their pitches
- May 20: Educational Hackathon Pitch Day. Winners will be announced at the Faculty Awards Ceremony
Who is eligible to apply?
Teams can consist of faculty, students, and staff, as well as external collaborations. A BCM faculty member must serve as team lead and register the team.
